Bridgette Nelson Memorial XC Invite, Sorosis Park

300 E Scenic Drive, The Dalles – Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019

***Summit High School XC Races:

11.00 am:      HS Girls Varsity 5K

11:30 am:      HS Boys Varsity 5K

12:00 Noon:  HS Girls JV 5K

12:45pm:       HS Boys JV 5K


***TRAVEL: Summit XC athletes to load 2 yellow buses @ 6:00am SaturdayBuses depart SHS at 6:15am sharp!  All athletes must check in with a captain with a clipboard before boarding the bus.

Bus should arrive at The Dalles, Sorosis Park by 9:45am.  The Varsity Girls will need to focus on their race preparation for a 11:00am start.  Others can help set up the team tents and pass out bib numbers and chips.

**Athletes are responsible for picking up your race number and timing chip from the coaches/captains

1 hour before your race.  Chips must be securely attached to your shoe.  We have lots of twist ties in the team wagon to use to attach chips. You must return your chip at our team tent as soon as you finish.  You will be charged $25 if you lose your timing chip.

**Awards to follow the last Boys JV race approximately 1:30pm.

**Buses will load immediately after the conclusion of the Team Awards at approximately 2:00pm.  The team will stop at a Dalles grocery store for a 20-minute food stop on the way back to Bend.  Bus should arrive back at SHS at 6:30pm.  Athletes are to call parents on the ride back through Redmond to update on school pick-up time.  If your parents cannot be there to pick athletes up as soon as the bus returns to Summit, you must make other arrangements for a ride home.  Coaches must wait until all are picked up.  In addition, athletes that do not return on the school bus on Saturday: must provide a parent written permission note after the race and the student must personally check out with a coach before leaving the race site after the team awards.


**Course: The course is two loops in Sorosis Park.  We have been told the course is hilly, tight turns and has lots of paved sections.  We recommend that you race in your training shoes (not spikes). 

**Packing List: Team uniform, training shoes and/or spikes, white XC team shirt, warm jacket and pants, towel, dry pair of shoes and socks, change of clothes, sunscreen, pillow, games, homework, water bottle (it could be extremely hot by the time of your race, so bring extra water and drinks).  All athletes must bring food, snacks and drinks for breakfast and lunch.  Please bring money for dinner/snack at a quick (20 minute) stop at a local grocery store on the way home from the meet.

The busses will be full so plan to share seats.  Pack your race gear under the bus and carry on only your food, water and pillow/blanket.  For safety reasons: Do not leave bags in the bus aisle. Thanks!


**Parents are welcome and encouraged to travel to watch the team compete.
