Summit High

George Fox XC Classic – October 14, 2017

Willamette Mission State Park (north of Salem) – exit 263 off I-5N and turn left onto Brook Lake Road NE and then right onto Wheatland Road N. Park is on your left. 

$5 Oregon State Park fee or bring your 2017 State Park Pass.


Race Schedule for Summit XC:  Races held all day from 9:00am – 4pm

2:30pm JV Girls Gold 5,000m

3:00pm JV Boys Gold 5,000m

3:30pm Varsity Girls Gold 5,000m

4:00pm Varsity Boys Gold 5,000m           

4:45pm – Awards to follow boy’s race


Team Travel:

Load 2 yellow buses at SHS at 9:15am, Depart SHS at 9:30am.

Athletes must check-in with a team captain before boarding the bus. Arrive at WM State Park at 1:00pm. 


**Buses will load immediately after the conclusion of the Team Awards at approximately 5:30pm. 

The team will stop at a Salem Safeway at 3380 Lancaster Drive NE, 503-399-1602 for food and drinks on the way back to Bend.  Bus should arrive back at SHS at 9:30pm. 

**Athletes are responsible for picking up your race number and chip 1 hour before your race start. Please turn in your chips at the end of the chute after your race.

Summit will have 2 team tents in case of rain or sun.  Plan on extra time needed at the toilets. There will be long lines.

**Course: The course features a 100 meter wide starting line, 3 loops (1667 meters per loop), flat and fast. A season best or PR course. Course is dirt and bark chip trails with some pavement at the start. You can run alongside the road if you are wearing spikes.


Athletes are to call parents on the ride back through Sisters to update on school pick-up time.                    

In addition, athletes that do not return on the school bus on Saturday: must provide a parent written permission note and the student must personally check out with a coach before leaving the race site after the team awards. There will be special accommodations for athletes heading back early for Summit Homecoming, please plan on carpooling.

**Packing List: Team uniform, training shoes and/or spikes, green XC T-shirt, warm jacket and pants, towel, dry pair of shoes and socks, change of clothes, sunscreen, pillow, games, homework, water bottle and extra drinks.  All athletes must bring food, snacks and drinks for breakfast and lunch.  Please bring money for meet t-shirt and dinner at a quick (20 minutes) stop at the Salem Safeway store on the way home from the meet.
